Testing Twitter Tools

Since I update my twitter feed more frequently than the blog, I decided to integrate the two using Twitter Tools, a nifty little WordPress plugin, that updates my blog when I tweet and vice versa.

Though I enjoy blogging, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to sit down and write a full blog post. Twitter/Micro-blogging seems to be easier to do. On the other hand the “tweets” (140 chars max) are more of an unfiltered stream of consciousness, a trigger-happy way of just typing away the top most thought on one’s mind. There will be blog posts still on mohaps.com, but given the frequency at which I tweet… you get the idea.

Jimmy Zhingchak on Wikipedia

Jimmy ZhingchakHa! saw this during a wikipedia browsing session. Kinda made my day! 🙂 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Zhingchak_(comics).

JZ was a real blast to write. I have fond memories of writing it. The character of Bhappi-da, the last of the DISCO gods is hands down my favorite ever, closely followed by Fukku Bhai from Mumbai Macguffin. Last I heard (from semi-realiable sources) UTV was making a movie out of it. Wonders of work-for-hire! I’m not involved in that. 🙁 But will go watch the movie when (and if) it gets made.

Aieeee Saaalaaa!

Oh! and I used to maintain a kind of scrapbook of Zhingchak sightings on the wild wild web. You can find it here.

About Jimmy Zhingchak

JIMMY ZHINGCHAK – AGENT OF D.I.S.C.O., written by Saurav Mohapatra and drawn by Anupam Sinha, is a spoof and a homage of ’80s bollywood disco zeitgeist, detailing the adventures of a disco dancing superspy who fights Sir John and his evil F.I.R.A.N.G. for the Dept. of Internal Security and Covert Operations (D.I.S.C.O.) Site Upgrade

I did a WordPress upgrade today. If you accessed the site between 11:15 AM EST – 11:30 AM EST on 12th Aug 2008 and got some weird stuff in your browser, I apologize for that.

New WordPress version seems to be rocking … so far 😛

Hmmm… Upgrades :)

Okie doks intrepid readers. Welcome to mohaps.com 4.0.

I just finished the upgrade to WordPress from Simple PHP Blog cause I was worried about performance and security. Simple PHP Blog served me well but lately I see traffic increasing and one of my other sites got hacked into a phishing site. So had some time on my hands and voila! We have the new improved mohaps.com.

I managed to import the posts but sadly could not get the comments out. 🙁 ah! them’s the breaks. so anyways just wanted to say welcome to my new site and now back to the grind … SADHU #4 script needs to be completed this weekend.

Google Analytics added to mohaps.com

I added google analytics code to better track the hit stats on www.mohaps.com., which shall help me identify the traffic pattern on this site.

I upgraded my plan with my hosting service to support better bandwidth and am planning on adding a section with a daily comic strip that I am writing and drawing right now sometime in the next month.

So watch this space and keep visiting. 🙂

As of now the hit stats (collected from the Simple PHP blog stat counter) are:

Total: 23,012
Today: 6
Yesterday: 296

Welcome to Mohaps.com 3.0 powered by Simple PHP Blog

I finally managed to give the mohaps.com website a full overhaul using the most excellent Simple PHP Blog and some TLC with the colors/themes.

I must say I was very impressed by the ease of install and rich feature set of the software. I managed to get my site up and running and looking like it does now within half an hour (most of the time spent in uploading files)

This is the third incarnation of the site and hopefully this site shall be the dynamic site I always wished for. 🙂

Now begins the arduous task of collating and getting over the information I have scattered over the web into my current site.

I have till now managed to migrate my writing portfolio and related links to this site. Shall probably do my old blogspot blog tomorrow night.

I have decided to use my old blog at http://220volts.sulekha.com as a Blook (Blog + Blook) to post stories and poems from now onwards.

220 Volts AC

I have started a new blog at Sulekha.com at the above URL for just writing about stuff as I am on a year long sabaticcal in India. I quit my job in the states and moved back to India for a year or so, to think about life and what i want to do next.

Please do visit “220 Volts AC” and be sure to leave your feedback there.

Due to network connectivity issues, I might not be updating this blog frequently … however i do try to post daily on http://220volts.sulekha.com

One of my posts titled “The Fifteen Marks Answer” was selected as a “Featured Post” on Sulekha.com

and in other news … one of my stories called “DEATH BY ANY OTHER DAME” , a norish take on the vampire story was accepted into the May 2006 issue of “THE HARROW”, an award winning horror and dark fantasy magazine ( http://www.theharrow.com ) and another story titled “NOCTURNES OF INFINITY” made it to the final list of 25 for “NORTH OF INFINITY III” anthology to be published by Mosaic Press. Waiting with bated breath for the final word on that.. which is due towards the end of september.
